Wapiti Weekend - May 22 - 24, 2026

Every year families from all over Arizona sign up their children for two AH-MAZING days of jam-packed fun. Families camp with either their tents, RV’s or trailers and are welcome to set up anytime on Friday. First come first serve style and please note that it is dry camping only.

Wapiti Weekend will be held May 22rd-24th at Camp Raymond. Yes, this is Memorial Day Weekend. I know this is a big ask to volunteer this weekend. I'm hoping to be cleaned up and out by early Sunday afternoon so the volunteers can spend the rest of the weekend with their family. We will be setting up Friday morning. The kids will start checking in Friday afternoon/evening. We'll have a group dinner Friday night followed by activities all day Saturday and Sunday morning.

We'll feed you all weekend. Then we will clean up and head home Sunday afternoon. You are welcome to bring your trailer/ or RV to sleep in or there will tent sights available as well. There are also beds available attached to the mess hall. The beds are first come first serve but the kitchen crew gets priority. We had plenty of beds available last year so I don't think it will be an issue. We also have a few full hookup sites for RV/trailers. The first ones to let me know they are volunteering and need a spot get them. So sign up early! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Habitat Projects/Restoration

Russ Johnson is our Habitat and Project Coordinator. AES has projects going most of the summer during the weekends. These projects are for everyone! If you want to volunteer, we will find something you can help with. We encourage families, college students, youth groups, boy & girl scout troops or just by yourself to come out and join like-minded people to accomplish something good for the environment and elk. Most of the projects are in northern Arizona so it is a great opportunity to get out of the heat. Arizona Elk Society provides food and drink for the entire weekend. You’ll just have to bring your camping gear and you’ll be all set! If you are interested in volunteering for a project, please email Russ. We’ll keep this page updated the best we can about upcoming projects.
